Joan Chen, also known as Chen Chong in Chinese, started her career as a young and lovely movie star in the film "Youth" (Qing Chun). She became very successful and popular in the late 70's with many memerable scenes in films such as "Little Flower" (Xiao Hua), which won her the best actress award in Chinese Film Academy Baihua Award.
After arriving in the US in early 80's, Joan quickly gained her world-wide fame by casting in film such as "The Last Emperor", although some of her latest films are somehow controversial and disliked by her native audiences.
Joan Chen made a comeback to the Chinese audiences in the 90s. Her role in "Red Rose and White Rose" won her Taiwan's Goldern Horse Best Actress Award.
Joan is now marching into the business world with her investment in Shanghai's Peral of Orient Entertainment World.
